American Idol Finale'.....Rewind!

Have you ever laughed until your sides hurt and your cheeks were still hurting in the morning when you woke up? My friends and I had that kind of night last night....it was too much fun!

Jackie and I were texting each other through the entire American Idol finale' and loved every second of it. The show was incredible! The acts that were on this year were phenomenal. We say KISS, Queen, Rod Stewart, Keith Urban, Fergie, Black Eyed Peas, Steve Martin, Lionel Ritchey and the list just goes on and on. We had so much fun watching it that Jackie suggested getting together for dinner and watching it again on Friday. Gotta love DVR! Sharon, Deanna, Christine and I went to Jackie's and had tacos outside. It was a beautiful night!

Any guesses what Christine is talking about? :) I have no idea.Mike mowed the lawn and helped out with some picture taking!
Next we went in for some pie and then we watched the show...again! We decided that it was really a personal concert just for us!

Jackie and I were playing "dueling cameras" again. :)
(Jackie still has the cake server I gave her for their wedding 9 years ago!)

It's Idol time.......:) What is Christine pointing at that Deanna can't take her eyes off of?

Aha......Kris (The New American Idol) and KEITH URBAN! "I'll be the girl anytime, Keith!" See you in September!

Deanna and Sharon....we laughed all night.
Thanks, Jackie! It was a great night and such a fun way to start an unbelievably beautiful weekend!

Taylor Swift!

Last Thursday, the kids and I went to one of the best concerts I've seen. We went to see Taylor Swift, Kelly Pickler and a new group called Gloriana.
One of the big hits of the night was the "Taylor Swift Glow Stick". I have to admit, it was pretty cool when all of the sticks were turned on and the kids were spinning them in the dark. This was definitely a concert for young girls so can imagine the screaming and the number of glow sticks. Scott was a good sport for going with us....and he liked most of it, too!

Gloriana was the opening act. They played a short set but were really good. Their big hit is "Wild at Heart". I was impressed...I will buy their CD.

Next was Kelly Pickler. Remember her? She came from American Idol. She has come a long way. She puts on a great show. I couldn't get any good pictures of her but she looked great in her "Red High Heels"!

Then, Taylor Swift came on. One word describes her act.....WOW! It's no wonder that girl (all of 19 years old) is so dang skinny. She is on the move constantly. She tells a story with her songs. She joked that boys should be nice to her because she will write a song about them! :) Her sets were amazing. They portrayed the stories in her song.

This was for "Picture to Burn".
This one was for "White Horse".

At one point, she disappeared from the stage and then the spotlight found her standing in the middle of the crowd. She sang a couple of songs standing on the stairs between sections of people and then walked down to the floor. She ended up on a little stage right in front of us....so much fun!

Her last song of the night was "Should've Said No!" Everyone was waiting for that song. She had a fantastic "drum" set with another gal....one of the coolest things I've seen. Taylor's the one on the right.

After she finished that, she was exhausted and drenched. She flirted with the audience a little and then went back to singing the song and then it happened....just like at the CMA (Country Music Awards)....the water came down on her and she finished the song in a rainstorm. It was fantastic! The concert lasted almost 4 hours and we were completely entertained from beginning to end!

Mother's Day

I had a very nice day today. I spent the day with my kids and Scott's future in-laws, the Diffee clan. Scott ran back down to Pullman to help with the last details of Holly's move and then Shannon and I met everyone in Spokane for a picnic at Riverfront Park.We went to the Food Court at Riverpark Square so everyone could get the food of their choice and then we found a great spot in the park to eat. It was fun to sit and visit and get to know everyone a little bit better since we will all be family very soon. It was fun to know that if Holly had been a boy, she would have been named Scott Thomas. Hmmm....how is that for a "meant to be" story? After we ate, Holly was excited to take her family to "feed the goat". The goat eats small pieces of garbage. It is a must-do if you are new to Riverfront Park!

Nana decided the goat was still hungry!
Bryce tried to tame the goat for us! Way to ride that goat!
We decided to take a walk on this beautiful sunny day and check out the falls. They were impressive as usual.
One nice thing about Mother's Day is that I get family pictures and no one gets to complain!
One sure sign that you are in Riverfront Park is when the train goes by....
Here's a picture of Scott, Holly, Caitlin and Bryce. Caitlin is Holly's sister and Bryce is her fiance'. I should have waited until everyone was looking at me! :)
This was a wonderful Mother's Day. I enjoyed the beautiful weather and the great company.
Happy Mother's Day to my mom and all my wonderful friends who are Moms!

May 9, 2009 Holly's Graduation

Today was a great day! My "soon-to-be daughter-in-law", Holly, graduated from Washington State University. She is an official Cougar Alum! We are so proud of her.We went to Pullman for the ceremony and got to spend some wonderful time with her family. Her parents, Tom and Denise, were there and so were Pen, Jill, their girls, Caitlin, Bryce, Diane, Dwight, Jackie and Nana. The Spilker side shared in her day as well. Paul and Cindy went down and of course I was there with Scott and Shannon.
Yep...she's going to be a great teacher... another Mrs. Spilker in a classroom. :)

The day was absolutely beautiful! (A little different than Scott's...if you remember from my blog in December!)
Aunt Holly checking in....the girls were so good! Two hours is a long time. They did great and so did their mom and dad. :)

Ah! Time to finally relax...cake and punch at the Ed. building after graduation. Aren't they a great looking couple?

We are very proud of you Holly! You've done a great job! Next big day is the wedding!
